Stephanie Sutton Photography: 4/15/12

I decided to take a trip to The South in March 2012. I have never been there before so I wanted to check it out and see what The South really has to offer. I started off flying into Tallahassee and driving to Montgomery then Birmingham, Alabama. I also went to Tuscaloosa Alabama and saw a little bit of last years tornado damage. I went to Jackson and Natchez Mississippi. Natchez is a really nice area with lots of old plantation homes and moss hanging from the trees. I made sure to go to Longwood Plantation. It costs about $15 to get in and take the tour, but it's well worth it! Plus, this is where they filmed a few scenes from True Blood!! Lots of great photo opportunities in Natchez! From there I went down to Lafayette and Baton Rouge Louisiana. I also stopped in New Orleans. I told myself that I wasn't going to stop there because I was traveling alone and even though I was going during the day, I didn't want anything to happen. But as I was driving down the highway, I saw a sign for the visitors center. I stopped and asked where the safe areas were. I drove through the French Quarter and parked on the street, walked down to Jackson Square and hung out for a bit, got a beignet (DELICIOUS!), then went back to the car. It was not as bad as I've heard and it was actually a very intriguing place! A photographers dream! I drove back across Mississippi and Alabama towards the Florida Panhandle, stopping in Biloxi and Mobile along the way. The Florida panhandle has very nice gulf beaches, including Destin, which I've never heard of before but it was a beautiful place! Here are a few of my favorite pictures from my trip. Hope you enjoy!
